More and more our environmental and societal challenges become increasingly complex. Collaborative, holistic approaches and horizontal management skills across organizational and sometimes even national borders are needed to handle a growing complexity, with less resources and making full use of the potential in new technology development.
This workshop provides a first introduction to the governance of cross-disciplinary processes, working in teams in order to develop a strategy for defined societal challenges. The workshop takes 4 hours and the preferred number of participants is 4-25.

Hagastaden is a city district with a unique location with proximity to several world-renowned universities and institutions, including Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Stockholm University. In and around Hagastaden there is a large concentration of scientific research and entrepreneurship within the field of life sciences. Apart from academic institutions, there is Karolinska University Hospital, global companies and start-ups. Hagastaden is an innovation district with a clear focus on life, health, and innovation.
This new city district is still under construction, due to be finalized in 2030. Before starting the construction, a vision was launched stating that Hagastaden should become a world-leading site for life science. The different stakeholders, universities, Region Stockholm Assembly, City of Stockholm together with global companies stood behind this vision. When the new Karolinska University Hospital was built, it was connected to the BioClinicum building where preclinical research is conducted to ensure collaboration. When Karolinska Institutet built its new laboratory for preclinical research, it was connected to BioClinicum, again to ensure collaboration. Today you can walk indoors from world-leading research to the patients in 10 minutes.
In Hagastaden, you can experience the proximity between research, the health care providers, authorities, companies, SMEs and global enterprises, and see how everything is connected. Here everybody sees themselves as part of the ecosystem where both planned meetings, as well as spontaneous and unplanned meetings, are facilitated. 6 000 new appartements in total will be built here.
Kista has been home to one of the leading ICT clusters in the world since it introduced triple helix collaboration some years back, allowing academia, industry and the public sector to join forces here. Kista is a unique example of successful cross-disciplinary urban planning, and is today teeming with creative and competent actors in many growing start-ups and SMEs that are developing innovative products and services. Several large, international companies in the IT and telecom sectors have chosen to place their headquarters and regional offices here, for example Ericsson and IBM.
